It's quite touching the way Osama bin Laden continues to watch out for his old pal George. He's just so dependable, especially in times of Administration trouble.
In the very same week that Dubya hits an all-time low job approval rating (a Fox poll at that), bungles the Chinese President's visit, fires Scott McClellan and demotes Karl Rove, the oh-so thoughtful Osama sends along yet another audio love track to brighten poor Georgie's spirits.
CAIRO, Egypt Apr 23, 2006 (AP)-- Osama bin Laden purportedly said in an audio tape broadcast by Al-Jazeera television Sunday that the West's decision to cut off funds to the Palestinians proved that the United States and Europe were at war with Islam. He also said the West was supporting what he called a "Zionist crusader war against Muslims."
"The blockade which the West is imposing on the government of Hamas proves that there is a Zionist crusader war on Islam," the speaker on the tape said.
"I say that this war is the joint responsibility of the people and the governments. While the war continues, the people renew their allegiance to their rulers and politicans and continue to send their sons to our countries to fight us."
How very nice of Osama to think of Dubya at a time like this. Laura really should put him on the White House Christmas card list.
What a guy. I mean, there Osama sits in his cave, hooked up to his dialysis machine, sipping tea and smoking hookas to his heart's content, and yet between plotting the ultimate demise of the Western infidels and dreaming of the thousands of virgins who will surely greet him in the hereafter, Osama STILL takes the effort to cut a new tape just in time to preempt a 60 minutes interview with a CIA operative who claims Bush knew all along Saddam didn't have any WMD.
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The Central Intelligence Agency warned US President George W. Bush before the Iraq war that it had reliable information the government of Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction, a retired CIA operative disclosed.
But the operative, Tyler Drumheller, said top White House officials simply brushed off the warning, saying they were "no longer interested" in intelligence and that the policy toward Iraq had been already set.
The disclosure, made in an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" program due to be broadcast late Sunday, adds to earlier accusations that the Bush administration used intelligence selectively as it built its case for the March 2003 invasion of Iraq and the toppling of Saddam's regime.
Almost brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?
Of course, this isn't the first time Osama has shown George his love at a critical time. Why, only back in January, an early Osama valentine just happened to coincide with the release of a Department of Justice memo saying it's just fine for the president to spy on Americans without warrants if the he thinks they are talking to terrorists. Gosh, one would think George ought to be spying on himself the way Osama seems to know precisely the right time to call. Allah be praised!
And who can forget the tape that came out the week before election day 2004? What a thoughful gesture that was, huh? Even George said Osama really helped put him over the top. Oh sure, there were some unromantic cynics like Walter Cronkite who claimed the video was all a Karl Rove set up, but Walter just doesn't understand the very special relationship between the bin Ladens and Bushes. After all, the two clans go back a long, long time, way before September 11, and it's only natural that Osama would want to help out an old family friend - especially one who has done so much to help Osama recruit members for his own business.
Yet while its always nice to hear his mellifluous voice on the audio tapes, Osama hasn't shown himself on video since his big election day send-off. I hope Osama is feeling alright. I know a lot of mean folks have been saying that he doesn't look like his old self on those videos, and I just hope Osama isn't taking all that silly criticism about his appearance to heart.
Keep up the good work Osama, because George really needs your continued love and support - now more than ever.
