nuclear option GOP spin on NPR again

Thu Apr 28, 2005 at 07:30:40 PM PDT

Today's All Things Considered contained a tortured attempt to appear as neutral reporters while kowtowing to GOP spin on "the nuclear option."

David Welna did a report on Frist's 5-day waiting period "compromise" on judicial nominations in which he referred to the nuclear option as "a term coined by a republican but now exclusively used by Democrats."

of course "the nuclear option" term was coined by a republican, used by many many republicans for a long time, abandoned by republicans due to an edict just a few days ago, and then lied about by republicans since then in an attempt to smear Democrats.  not quite the same as a term that someone in the GOP happened to use, but then got picked up and used "exclusively" by Democrats--and there's really no reason to bring up the language ownership angle/flap except as an attempt to throw a bone to the GOP
