Zell Miller Hospitalized

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) ? Former Sen. Zell Miller fell ill while giving a speech Thursday night and was taken to a hospital emergency room. His wife said he had flu-like symptoms.

Miller, 73, was in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to nursing supervisor Tammy Harbison. She said she did not know what made Miller ill.

For some reason, I can't help but think that this might be the result of some degenerative disease that he's had over the past years, which was responsible for his trend to radical Bush-ism and his surreal "duel" moment during the RNC.

Needless to say, I wish him all the best as a FORMER senator and governor from the State of Georgia, and hope he will return to the best of health as soon as possible.

  I share your conjecture that his mental impairment is probably not something he can recover from in this life.

    There isn't any evidence that this is related to anything else.  It just seems likely given his odd behavior over the past few years.  We forget that as Governor of Georgia, he generally was a good guy; it's just over the last 2 years of his Senate term he got cantankerous.

      He became erratic.

      He seemed paranoid.

      He made sense earlier in his career when he criticized Dems on gun control. He said some stuff that made me think. But in his later days in the Senate he stopped making sense. I never understood how he thought the Dems should be different from the GOP. He seemed to be saying Dems could do no right and GOP could do no wrong.

      This did not seem consistent with what I knew of his record.

  If Zell Miller would wish well a sick Democratic liberal leader, or a Republican turned Democrat,  then I hope he gets better soon, and we all should.
