to me, however. I make these comments on a day I plan to take a half day vacation, pack the truck with tailgating supplies (read mostly beer) and head to Columbia for a football game.
That is part of my annual ritual, meet with my family and go to the game and do the same old same old, but this time, with the horror on the Gulf expanding by the minute, it all seems surreal.
but, let this be known, the reality that all is not well in America, and that the comfortable right wing, that was happy to take tax cuts, and have another class of people fight their war, they thought they could have it all and eat it too, cake of course.
But, now, that sleazy Governor of Miss, Barbour, closet racialist that he surely is, so contemptous of the "government" now his ass is in the sling, and where is the Guard, and why are we paying $4 a gallon for gas, and what the shit is going on here?
I know this is cynical, but until those safe and comfy with their tax cuts, and mulitudinous SUVs, until those prim and proper folks feel it themselves, the campaign to alienate the world will continue by the most arrogant group since, well, it would be hard to pick the most arrogant Presidency, but this one is pretty nearly perfectly arrogant.
I will not fly my school colors, no obnoxious signs against the right, Bush, the war, though I am sorely tempted.
With the death dowm on the Gulf, some concessions to good taste are necessary, perhaps I should not go to the game, gas prices are high, did you know that?
But, family awaits, Cowboy Troy awaits, the 6'5" black, hick-hop singer, I will blast the cd all the way to Columbia....MADD, please turn your head....it is a ritual, as I said, perhaps not a good one, but in times of sadness, of real loss as an American, you reach out to reliable, symbols, totems, sense of family, whatever, of being a part of something living, a tradition, it is hard to express.
Have a wonderful day folks, I plan on having an extremely nice day, rock and roll, cold imported beer, various foods and lots of crass behavior.
