I've read Gen. Wes Clark's post over at
TPM Cafe on what's really become apparent since last year's elections: It all comes back to leadership.
At this point, it seems as if George W. Bush couldn't lead a fucking horse to water.
He seems very uncomfortable when answering questions about the situation in aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Each time he gives us empty platitudes, he shows us that he has NO clue about how most Americans live.
Sure, he always says, 'The American People this...' or 'The American People that...', but he doesn't have a mortgage or rent to worry about each month; he doesn't have family members or friends in Iraq; he doesn't need to worry about his income not keeping up with inflation, interest rates, and the general cost of living.
I have had it up to HERE with this douche. Who the fuck is in charge in the White House? Does it matter anymore? We're not enough of a laughing stock in the rest of the world because of this Administration? Now we get to see the ineptness, bad decisions, and general cluelessness front and center? When it's quite clear that our President just doesn't know what to say, or how to give comfort to the nation? Where is that famous 'resolve' that our leader has?
Hooray! I feel safer knowing that our President and his henchmen in the media will soon start linking Hurricane Katrina to 9/11. And then the media pundits and cognitive dissonant hordes will start hating on those who have lost much in so little time.
Where did we go wrong? How have we come to this? Is it too late to change course?
After all this venting, I guess the mess in the Gulf will keep my mind off that other fiasco called Iraq. Yup, that's me always Mr. Look on the Bright side...
Apologies for my language, but i'm just becoming numb to it all anymore. Just sick of all the senseless acts and decisions that have real consequences everyday for those of us not in the ivory tower...
Please give your thoughts (if nothing else) to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and send money, clothing, food, etc. if you can.
It's time for the fortunate to sacrifice the things they don't really need for the unfortunate because, whether you think about it or not, at the end of the day, we're all in this together.
And in that realization, is beauty...
