Cheney: Dean is Over the Top

Sun Jun 12, 2005 at 01:08:46 PM PDT

Yep that's right - Mr. the insurgents are in their death throws has called Dean 'Over the Top'

www.reuters.com :

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney slammed Democratic Party boss Howard Dean as "over the top" in a television interview to air on Monday, saying Dean had helped Republicans more than Democrats.

"I think Howard Dean's over the top. I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does," Cheney told Fox News Channel.

"So far, I think he's probably helped us more than he has them. That's not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party," Cheney said.

Really? So does that mean bushes approval ratings would be at 25% without Dean's 'Help'?

More Below.

Cheney's attack was the latest in a chorus of Republican complaints about the Democratic National Committee chairman, who recently said Republicans "never made an honest living in their lives" and were "pretty much a white, Christian party."

For the Record, Here are some of Cheney's quotes:

It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States" - Dick Cheney

"Go f*ck yourself." - Vice President Dick Cheney to Sen. Patrick Leahy on the Senate floor

"The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight." - Vice President Dick Cheney

The list goes on and on.

There are currently 438 stories related to this on Google news.  When are we going to get 438 articles written when a republican says something outrageous?

...and at the vice-Presidential debates, he'd never met John Edwards before.

    I submit:

    1. Cheney needs to get out more.
    2. Cheney needs to cut back on his meds so that he'll remember who he meets when he gets out.

He really is.  If Cheney is worried for me and my party, we're doing something right.

    To add to you list.

  •  Cheney's Insult Is Out Of Touch (none / 0)

With the American people. Forever plagued by consistently low polls, which now holds true for his party as well, Dick Cheney represents only marginal radicals. Republicans I've talked to agree Cheney is doing far more harm than good to his party, and indeed to our country.

It's exceedingly poor form, a dangerous step for our democracy, to bring mothers into it. This sneering, mumbling hunchbank should get back to the bell tower.

  •  Methinks (none / 1)

Methinks the GOP doth protest too much.  Dean is a genius.  Let's us use the corporate media and their Repub cronies to keep Dean's frame of the GOP in the news.  Well done.
  •  Start calling the media (none / 0)

Make sure they ask every Republican, no matter what they come on the show to discuss, to respond to Cheney's words. Ask if he could genuinely be so ill-informed as to not know that Howard Dean was elected governor more than once. This really should be troubling to people--after all, remember back in 2000? Cheney was billed as the competent one.

Ask how he could possibly be so ill informed as to think that nobody likes Howard Dean except, possibly, his own mother. To not know that Howard Dean is extremely popular, at least in some circles. would suggest that Cheney has been spending too much time in an "undisclosed location". What else is he not aware of? This should concern people.

No word in edgewise for any Republcan who wants to talk on television, until they have been forced to discuss this "gaffe" committed by the vice president. And yes, by all means, bring up those previous gaffes that are mentioned in this diary.

  •  Then Dean must be right!!! (4.00 / 2)

If the GOP really thought that Dean was hurting his own party, they'd shut up and let him sink. If Cheney is coming out on the attack, then Dean must be posing a real threat for the 2006 midterm elections!

  •  BWAH HAH HAAAAAAAH!!!!! (4.00 / 3)

Oh, excuse me while I stop laughing my butt off!

Cheney is mad because Dean said a mean thing about the Republicans?  CHENEY?  Vice President "I'm Willing to Sell My Kid Out So the Wingnuts Can Vote Republican" Cheney?

Of course Cheney's never met anyone who loves Dean!  His GOP pals are all terrified of him!

C'mon folks--Howard baited the GOP and they fell for it.  Pass the popcorn!

  •  Cheney is a Psychopath (4.00 / 3)

It goes without saying that Cheney doesn't have any room to talk about anything. I think Cheny fits all of the conventional checklist items for being a psychopath... I just can't wait to turn his ass over to the international criminal court. Do they execute people? Probably not... Maybe we need to make sure he is punished according to U.S. law.

Cheney's one guy who I think deserves capital punishment.... never thought I'd support that... but hey, that's just my gut reaction. Man... I could start to believe in this country again if I saw that cretan's cranium hooked up with electrodes.

    Some more quotes from Cheney:

"And we would've won this war if it wasn't for those meddling kids!" (This was said after he pulled the sheet off of his head, revealing that he wasn't actually a ghost but a person wearing a cheap costume.)

"Hey you kids get off my lawn!" (This is often repeated when grandpa doesn't take his medication.)

  •  dean scares them (none / 0)

if they are sending cheney out to bash dean this  means bush is worried.he is trying to keep deans
mouth an issue to deflect from himself.trust me someone told the repubs to worry about dean and what better way to reach his base than that idiot
hannity.excite.com had  a bush poll yesterday and all he got was 39% approval, and i figure internet polls favor republicans.i believe if we can nominate some else but hillary the dems can win big in 2008, with hillary it`s highly doubtful.

  •  Dear Dick , (4.00 / 3)

As long as you're mentioning mothers, do you believe it was from your own mother that your daughter Mary inherited her dyke gene?

Or could it have been from your lurid minded lesbian-novel-writing wife Lynne?

    Just wondering.

P.S. And why did you call her MARY, anyway?

  •  Right, Dick! No-one cares about what you think... (none / 0)

Cheney admitted it "doesn't matter so much what I think, I'm a Republican,"
  •  Cheney is beneath the bottom (4.00 / 2)

beneath contempt, & possibly under the influence.

Dean's foot is on Cheney's neck.

  •  Cheney Doth Protest Too Much... (none / 1)

Given that it's a general rule that what ever these guys say, one should believe the opposite, I'm taking Cheney's comments as an endorsement.

Nobody likes an opponent who punches back.

  •  What should Dean's response be? (none / 1)

Dean has Cheney exactly where he wanted.
He should come up with a measured response, have it reviewed with other Dems and knock one out of the ball park. His criticism should be squarely at Cheney, not at Republicans in general. He should
    read from a prepared statement.
His response should make fun of Cheney and also  him hard on his role in the Iraq war.
This is the moment we are waiting for. It should hit him so hard that Cheney will never say anything against Dems ever again.
If he come up with the right response, next week contributions to DNC will more than double.

    •  Dean should respond (none / 0)

      Not by taking them seriously.

But ask them the core issue, using joke, show statistic, be a clever ass for once. Instead of the rest of DLC cowards.

    •  Now the gloves come off. (4.00 / 2)

Howard, think about it.  Cheney brought your mother into it.  You want some red meat to feed to Southerners who drive pickup trucks with Dixie flags on them?  You want to prove Dems have balls?  Then, by God, call Cheney out on his mouth.

As far as I'm concerned, the decline of the Dems truly began when Michael Dukakis failed to tell America that he would personally hunt down and kill anyone who raped his wife.  Clinton failed to go after Limbaugh for insulting his daughter.  You want to win some respect?  Go after Cheney hammer and tongs.  Prove that Dems will stand up for their own.

      Do it!

  •  What was so funny (none / 0)

Is Cheney said during that debate with Edwards that he was in the Senate and never sees him..BULLSHIT..he's only in the Senate when they need him to break a tie..like on the nucylar option..lol!
