I went to a dance last night for Howard Dean in Brooklyn, NY. I can try to estimate the crowd (80 -100?) and no one seemed gloomy although everyone was talking about NH. A speaker gave us an update on delegate count, poll numbers, and upcoming events. BTW, it 5 degrees in NYC with a windchill of -15 so I think 80 people to come out and dance and eat potato chips in community center is pretty good. And I won in the raffle! A t-shirt for me: "Bush is an International Terrorist"; one for my fiance' "We are not free" and a baby t-shirt that said "War Bad" (i guess I could put it on one of the cats).
Also, words from my momma. Mom is a Dean supporter, doesn't have internet, and only gets tv news (doesn't even get newspapers).
Mom said "I've watched that Kerry on tv. He''s terrible - if he gets in office I can tell he's not going to do anything. You can just tell by the way he talks. Status quo. Then he''ll be out in four years and the Republicans will be laughing."
Truedat, Ma.
I told her we could all move to Europe after the election. She's been unemployed for over a year, has a heart problem with no health insurance. Only real change can help my mother. She just doesn't believe Kerry will do anything for suffering people like her. And neither do I.
