I'd like to get feedback, especially here at Soapblox Chicago.
Over on the Leftyblog site is and ad from MSNBC for a Porn special they are featuring this week. The graphic is the usual salacious naked woman with big breasts stuff.
I'm not a prude and I'm all for self expression and freedom of speech. But I find that ad offensive. MSNBC has the right to run the ad in that particular style, which I find hypocritical. But I think that I should be able to expect a certain level of sensitivity to women when I visit a site like "Lefty" blogs or here at Soapblox Chicago, where we are self professed partisan Progressives. I expect us to try to keep the content of our site to a certain minimum when it comes to content that is NOT Progressive in tone or style. Would we here at Soapblox accept that ad from MSNBC, with those graphics? I would hope not. My conversation with Kari Chisolm from Lefyblogs below.
Can We get the Graphic Changed for the Porn Promo for MSNBC?
This is "Lefty" blogs right? We are supposed to respect women. I find the graphic offensive. They could use something else besides the outline of a naked, big busted woman to attract attention to their porn special. Hell, just the word PORN usually gets plenty of attention. Kari Chisolm, can we change the graphic?

Kankakee-- The graphic is changing daily. I suspect you're going to find that the whole point of the MSNBC ad campaign is to raise exactly the questions you're asking.
This is, btw, the biggest blog ad buy in history - with over 800 blogs in the mix.

Yeh, I know it's about the money and yep I understand that they are "making a point" by using the degrading graphics but it's hypocritical and I still find it offensive. I'm not a prude, hell I've got a few pics of women who chose to have themselves used as sexual fodder... but when I come to a website like leftyblogs, or Soapblox Chicago, a professed partisan Progressive blog, I expect a little more sensitivity for the women who are participants. Geez, the graphic this morning is even worse! SIGH...
