Today's diary from
SteveUK reminded me of a BushCo strategy that is developing into a pattern to try to get Chimpy back on the "positive" side of news coverage.
Have you all noticed, since the start of the primary season, how Bush keeps showing up about 2 days later in locales recently vacated by the Democratic POTUS candidates?
A few examples:
- Visit to New Hampshire 2 days after the primary
- Visit to Charleston, SC, 2 days after the primary
Of course, it's totally possible that the speeches on homeland security that he delivered were not just thinly-veiled campaign stumps to the made-to-order crowds of military people (SC). (/sarcasm>
This style of "on-the-road leadership" has a cousin, the strategically-timed speech, that Bush used first, just weeks ago?
Read this CBS story for more:
The president scheduled his State of the Union speech to come one day after the Iowa caucus in a bid to deflect attention from the Democrats.
Too bad it misfired:
But his speech was widely viewed as a disappointment, and it failed to boost his standing in the polls.
Keep it up, BushCo!!!
