Not years, polling results.
As we all know,
Presidon't Bush has fallen to the upper-mid 30's in his approval rating, nearing it's final resting point. There is a certain core of folks that will never, ever speak ill of dear Georgie, even if he would eat their baby & impregnate the family goldfish before their very eyes.
With those "speshial" people in mind, I decided to see what else polls in the same upper-mid 30's region, to give our Dear Leader's falling numbers some context.
The same percentage that supports Bush also believes that Ouija boards work via spirits, and we all get a free vacation to another dimension when we die. Also to be noted, more people trust Nostradamus (39%) than Bush. But don't they know
he's French?!?
The US is more favored in Indonesia, a Muslim country, than Bush is favored at home. And to keep the Presidon't from jumping up & yelling at me for forgetting them, Poland appears to have some beef with China, coming in at a stalwart 36% approval.
In a labor dispute between unions & companies, 37% would support the companies. This really concerns me, given how close the gap is between support (45% would support the union), and the grotesque contract offers by Boeing to it's union workers recently.
Going back a few years, 35% of people believe that men-only clubs should stay men-only.
Scarily enough, that meager percentage of support for Dear Leader is the same level of opposition against a fence between Mexico & the USA. Just keep thinking that fence would only be designed to keep the Mexicans out...
But back to which people would support the Presidon't... like the 36% that would approve torture - even if it meant it would be more likely used on American soldiers, too.
Here at home, Ole Georgie finds himself receiving the same support as our justice system and the level of distrust in religious institutions.
There are slightly more people that believe our country is not becoming anti-religion. It scares me to believe that a majority of my fellow countrymen believe this nation is going in an anti-religious direction when religion is being introduced into almost every facet of our lives. Religion, like sex, should be kept to yourself and explored in private environments. Or so I believe...
Moving on - and up - 51% of people believe that humans were created as-is within the last 10,000 years. Okay, that's nowhere close to Bush's low numbers, but it scared me too much to ignore.
Another unfortunate stat - nearly the same percentage Bush can count on is the same support in favor of same-sex marriage.
I'd like to find a bit of joy in Bush's plummeting numbers, but I can't. Sure, Bush is the driver who put us into this ditch, but many of the passengers don't mind the ride.
