Noticed this news item the other day in the Chicago Sun Times
Dad know how it works
Texas father of missing girl, since found, may face charges because he changed her photograph to make her blonde and prettier in hopes of inspiring a larger rescue effort.

And in the knowledge that Fox News covers missing persons only if they look a little like Lindsay Lohan.
reported by ZAY N. SMITH, SunTimes columnist

Goddammit do I wish that we lived in a friggin society that would take one look at this article and say, "What the Fuck is going on?".

We spend all this time in this country looking for the guy in a turban and loincloth getting on a plane with a tattered shoebox in hand, that we completely ignore all the cause and effect that is going on all around us. The bullshit that is happening everyday that eventually is going to push someone over the edge.

If I were a father of a missing child who was black or mexican or perhaps just not the best looking girl in the world or god forbid, a boy and I was forced to watch the parade of white, pretty missing girls who Fox News and the rest of the cable news networks are constantly fretting over, I swear to god I'd think about blowing something up myself.

It's peculiar how everyone seems to have forgotten that America's first terrorist was of the homegrown variety. More ironic still is that what sent McVeigh over the edge was witnessing firsthand what was going on in The first Iraq war

Until we fucking get our heads out of our asses, we have absolotely no right to get all pissy when the French make fun of us.

  •  welcome to Texas, y'all (none / 0)

Home of mother-daughter botox treatments and no money down/$25 a month plastic surgery financing plans.
    •  Are you so sure that this is a uniquely (4.00 / 2)

      TEXAN phenomenon?

Please give me a big huge fucking break.

      •  Texas (none / 0)

        home of:
      • Most executions

      • Most non-violent offenders serving long prison terms

      • "Don't Mess with Texas"-originally a slogan to stop polluting.

      • The Alamo- Americas real first Terrorist Site
      • On the other hand, you gave us Bill Moyers and I'm sure many other great Americans

But on the other hand: Most of the Great Americans who come from Texas would admit that Texas is well....Texas

  •  I've never noticed (none / 0)

as much of it anywhere else. That doesn't mean it couldn't have been exported from here, though.

I moved to Texas in 1983. The first time I went to a grocery store, there were women doing their grocery shopping in bikinis. Full makeup. Big hair. Manicured fingernails and toenails. High heels. Lotsa jewelry. Grocery shopping????? I felt like I had fallen into a twilight zone where everywhere was a Miss America pageant.

Texas really is a whole 'nother country.

  •  I wish Texas would just succeed (none / 1)

and get it overwith. You know they think they are their own country there, they even named a Beer after their flag.
  •  and nothing succeeds like secession! (none / 0)

  •  what sent McVeigh over the edge (none / 0)

was probably a dispute with the Internal Revenue Service.

A timeline can be found at:

There was a four month delay from December 16th until April 14th.
