Back in 2004, before election time Sea Lion Records put together a free CD compilation of Anti-Bush, Anti-War song.

I think they'd make a great Travelin' to Texas road tunes CD.

You can listen to them online as RealAudio files, or download the mp3 files.

More below the fold...

From the direct and raspy style of 88-year old Julius Margolin, the satirical songs of John McCutcheon and Yikes McGee, the heartrending Home No More to the haunting Peace Inside this compilation of wide ranging music is an incredible collection of ANTI-BUSH, ANTI-WAR songs.

As Ralph Stever says, "So either you with us, or your with somebody else, or you're all by yourself."

Here's a complete list of the songs...

  •  My favorites... (none / 0)

codePINK, Somewhere Down the Line,  Operation Iraqi Liberation  and Kick Out The Republicans are my favorite open highway tunes, but number one for me is Peace Inside

    How about yours?

  •  Elvis Costello... (none / 0)

    seems pretty prophetic...

I suggest "Tramp the Dirt Down" (replacing Thatcher "her" lyrics with "his" of course)

"Try telling that to the boys on both sides, being blown to bits or beaten and maimed
Who takes all the glory and none of the shame

Well I hope you live long now, I pray the lord your soul to keep
I think I'll be going before we fold our arms and start to weep
I never thought for a moment that human life could be so cheap
'cos when they finally put you in the ground
They'll stand there laughing and tramp the dirt down"

"Green Shirt" could be about Fox "News"....

"There's a smart young woman on a light blue screen
Who comes into my house every night.
And she takes all the red, yellow, orange and green
And she turns them into black and white."

(The song also references torture in the police state.)

and "Ship Building" is a quiet, melancholy anti-war song. (Specifically the Falklands.)

    "We will be shipbuilding
With all the will in the world
    Diving for dear life
When we could be diving for pearls."
