Impending Civil War

Sun Aug 21, 2005 at 01:50:46 PM PDT

Shall we bring back Saddam? Well, this is what I was dreading about. But after reading this I see few other options. Bush & Co. mafia has let loose an animal far more dangerous even in their standards! And they have no way of controlling it as it is evidenced from this. Now what?? We get someone like Saddam (one of his old cousins from Tikrit will do) and let him clean up the mess. Let George Bush declare a victory and let Jeb start pushing for his 2012 run based on the success of his great brother.

  •  He's rested & ready (none / 0)

and did a better job of keeping his thumb on all the batshit crazy mullahs than Bush or our new puppet government can do.

James Webb is a bigot. And an uber hawk. Stephanie Herseth is a bigot. Harold Ford, Jr. is a bigot. And so are those who support them.

  •  Is there any (none / 1)

Country which will take Bush as a gift? With all his oil money, he should just buy up some island in the pacific and have a real nice life with lots of trees and bushes to take down with his chain saw. Why doesn't he just leave and leave the world in peace?
  •  You got it about right (none / 1)

It won't be Saddam but his equal if we are very very lucky.W is backing Irans pawns right now and that is far worse than what Saddam was.

If we get our asses out soon the chances of Saddam 2 are better and that is in Americas best interest.

  •  The British conquered Afghanistan in the 1840s (none / 1)

to get rid of a tyrant that was on their dime but not unreliable. They wanted more secure control of affairs in Kabul...so they installed a friendly exile to power, who promptly lost the throne.

The evacuating British army, having grown contemptuous of the locals, had in fact been subjected to tests of their weaponry and responses to various contrived situations, deemed nuisances by the Redcoats, but valuable sources of intel to the insurgents of the day.

When the time for a final contest arrived, it was swift and sure and wildly popular; the erstwhile conquerors were absolutely stunned.

The British army, um, secured safe passage back to India.

It was so safe, that almost the entire army was destroyed.

Later, the much-provoked British Empire reconquered Afghanistan, this time for keeps.

To hold down turf, guess what they did?

They reinstated the tyrant that they had held prisoner for years, for in his captivity he had come to know the British, and they to know him, and decided that they could work together and be great pals, after all.

Granted, that's the fable version, but it's real history.

    •  I'd like to see the spin on that. (none / 0)

Is this the reason they're keeping Saddam on ice, just in case?  I'd love to see the spin on that.  Hell, maybe Saddam will find Christ in prison and become a valued member of the conservative community like so many of their numbers.
  •  My guess is (none / 0)

that the international connections we see in most of the media right now are just the tip of the iceberg.

Before I clicked on this diary I thought it would be another of those "red state/blue state civil war" discussions in which we'd all wonder how lifetime blue-state conservatives like Sean Hannity  and Ann Coulter would figure out how to change sides.

    Ahmadinejad is a conservative
