He's out. Or
so they say.
U.S. Rep. James Langevin has decided not to run for U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island Democratic sources said today.
Langevin, D-R.I., had been considering challenging Chafee, and has said he would make up his mind by April 1.
But Democratic sources, who did not want to be named because Langevin has not made his decision public, said the two-term House member has decided against a Senate race.
Rep. Patrick Kennedy had declined to run earlier this year, but this week said he'd reconsider if Langevin didn't run. So it looks like we'll probably get a Kennedy in the race.
RI Secretary of State Matt Brown is already in the race.
