"The malice of evil men"

Sat Sep 10, 2005 at 09:46:16 PM PDT

I was scanning Google news and found this news.telegraph article:
News.Telegraph: First Lady steps in to defuse anger at Bush

What struck me was the statement in the article from our demonstrably malicious president:

"Today, America is confronting another disaster that has caused destruction and loss of life. This time the devastation resulted not from the malice of evil men, but from the fury of water and wind,"

More on the flip:

A snip from the article linked above and a cynical little quote from Laura Bush:

---------------------------------------
Mrs Bush intervened after Kanye West, the rapper, and Howard Dean, the Democratic Party chairman, said that race played a role in the United States government's poor response to the hurricane and blamed her husband for the disproportionate numbers of Afro-American victims.

"I think all of those remarks are disgusting, to be perfectly frank, because of course President Bush cares about everyone in our country," she said in a radio interview.
---------------------------------------

I'm not good at writing diaries so I'll just make a few comments and observations.

First, about the presidents quote. I submit that the devestation to life, property and community in New Orleans did indeed result from "the malice of evil men". The evil men being the president himself, his subordinates and his wealthy friends.

I'm not linking to citations here because I think we all know what happened. The current administration slashed funding for levee maintenence in Louisiana and shifted the money to the war in Iraq, a war which was started under fraudulent pretext and which has killed almost two thousand American troops and about a hundred thousand Iraqi civilians.

The president has cut taxes for himself and his wealthy friends and contributers and borrowed money for the war on the backs of our children and grand children.

He slashed funding for FEMA and crippled the ability of the agency to respond to natural disasters and appointed his incompetent toadies to run the agency.

The string of events and policy decisions by this president has crippled the very ability of government to protect its citizens but has succeeded in enriching a few very wealthy, very evil, very malicious people at the expense of the rest of us.

Bush was on vacation, Cheney was house shopping, and Condi was shoe shopping as a city, and its people were dying.

And the first lady? She thinks the remarks of Kanye West and Howard Dean are disgusting. Well if  she is was a real human person she would be apoplectic with disgust from being married to Mr. Bush, in my opinion.

The death and utter destruction in New Orleans wasn't caused by wind and water. I submit that it was indeed caused by "the malice of evil men".

  •  Where've I've heard this before...? (4.00 / 3)

Ezekiel 25:17 speech. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men. BLESSED IS HE, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Is Bush trying to "relate to black people." Or has he just been watching too many movies? How long until they draft Samuel L. Jackson or some such to back up his image with blacks? And why haven't they been able to do so already? No one interested?

U.S. blue collar vs. CEO income in 1992 was 1:80; in 1999 it was 1:475.

  •  Laura thinks its disgusting, eh? (none / 1)

Here she is posing as a food server for Katrina victims in the obligatory "compassionate conservative" photo set.

Since she's not wearing an apron over her expensive dress I can only assume she's not planning on staying around long after the photo op is complete.

Chaos: Not just a theory, its a way of life.

    •  Notice too... (none / 1)

that she's keeping her distance from the patrons.

The look on her face is one of desperate apprehension, bordering on fear!

What the hell is she serving them?! Plates of popcorn?!

      The little kid is like:

"Popcorn for breakfast?! Is that woman insane?!"

Yes young man, she is. So is her husband. You are in great danger. Just move slowly and don't startle her!
