Can you smell the fear? Minnesota House race. DFA-list!!

Tue Sep 13, 2005 at 07:50:30 AM PDT

It was once stated to me that Republicans know who can best defeat them, yes even better then the Democrats. This could be why they really pumped up the Dean scream slim machine, already have the attack machine going against Hillary, and now some are attacking Colleen Rowley and Scott Mortensen. Minnesota's CD-02 and CD-06 respectively As they say more in the fold below:
http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/ has posted the following:

  1. Like Colleen Rowley is the 2nd Congressional District, Scott Mortensen is proud to be the anti-war/peace-at-all-cost candidate in the 6th Congressional District. According to my DFL source, most DFLers in the 2nd and the 6th believe a Bobby Kennedy '68-type congressional candidate simply can't win.

  2. Mortensen was born and raised in Southern Minnesota and has lived in the Twin Cities for about 20 years. There is a growing interest in his voting record and how often he has exercised his right to vote.

  3. Mortensen's campaign has claimed "we do not have Washington consultants telling us how to run our campaign", yet they are trying to hire Ken Christensen, a fund raising/political consultant.

Christensen's win-loss record is being reviewed and more information will follow IF Mortensen's campaign actually scrapes together the money to hire Christensen.-----------------------

Ok the first point he makes is fine, who knows what some DFlers think. Perhaps that is good if some Dems are afraid of a Bobby Kennedy. In 2004 the democrats did not send someone who beat the Republicans. Mark Kennedy and John Kline kept their seats. I hope Dems in area change their ways. I am not sure but I really don't think they are anti-war/peace at all cost candidates. Just not the people to stand by and get lied to about pseudo WMD's, 9-11 ties and what not. Colleen Rowley was the FBI whistle blower about terrorist getting training in Minnesota flight schools. I am sure they will call her weak on the War on Terror.

His second point..... wtf? Voting record? As in who Scott has voted for in past elections? Well I bet it is safe to assume Scott did not vote for George W. Bush. You can contact and ask him if you want to find out. Is that going to hurt Scott? I really do not think it will be an issue. Bush has very low approval ratings all over the place.

Third point. No matter how grass roots Scott Mortensen's campaign is, at some point to be a viable candidate, you will need some help from the pros. I have little knowledge about Kens win / loss record myself.

Well go over to http://tools.democracyforamerica.com/housevote/ and give a vote to Scott Mortensen for Minnesota's sixth district. We can try to help get the resources he needs.

Check out the previous diary for more information about Scott Mortensen and his primary dino opponent Elwyn Tinklenberg.

  •  I guess I don't really understand (none / 0)

the crux of this diary.  You imply that the repubs must have something to fear in Colleen Rowley and Scott Mortensen but you don't explain what exacly it is that they should fear or why you consider Tinklenberg (Primary challenger to Mortensen) a DINO.

Look, I'm not in that CD (I'm in the 4th - Betty McCollum), but I would vote for whomever is running on the DFL ticket in either of those districts if I could.  Any of the DFL choices are head and shoulders above the Bush rubber stampers that the R's are offering (John Kline and Michelle Bachmann).

      Tinklenberg From Minnesota Public Radio:
Tinklenberg opposes legalized abortion, favors gun rights and supports a federal ban on gay marriage, provided there are some legal protections in place for gay couples. Those views are to the right of many Democrats, but could play well in the socially conservative 6th district. http://news.Minnesota.publicradio.org/features/2005/06/14_scheckt_tinklenberg/

I am not saying I know what they fear, if anything at all. I was just pointing out that sometimes it seems the Republicans know who can take them out of power more so then the Democrats.  I think they are most fearful of Wetterling being able to keep Dayton's seat then any of the other candidates. Could I be wrong, heck yes. It is just an obervation, but no way to prove it true or false.

Trust me I agree on voting for a DFLer vs a rubber stamp anyday. Even if I think they are a dino. Check out some of the other posts I have. I am pretty new to this stuff, so thank for the input. I will try to make somethings more clear in the future.

Reliable sources indicate that Coleen Rowley's campaign is extremely poorly-run.  This is not the campaign of someone the GOP should be frightened of.  Scotty may make a good candidate, but I'm not so sure of Coleen Rowley.
