I'm reading the transcript of Gebhardt's on-line discussion this morning and I gotta say i'm not very impressed: his answers seem short, almost kurt. lately he has been doing well when i see him on tv and speaking in public. he appears very dynamic and shows more leadership than i have ever seen from him. here in st louis i get a large dose of gebhardt on a regular basis. he is our guy here and i vote for him when election time comes around. i don't support his presidential candidacy though. i just don't see him in the role of a strong national leader. but back to the wapo interview: perhaps it is just not his medium, but reading through this interview i just don't see that he is doing himself any good. here is an example:
San Diego, Calif.: Will you overturn the federal ban on new stem cell lines for research; if so, will you increase research monies in general and if not why?
Rep. Richard A Gephardt : I will overturn the ban on new stem cell line research and I will increase funding for such research.
I mean geb's got a chance here to expound on the fundimental differences between the repubs and the dems and he just drops the subject. bush's treatment of all issues regarding science is clearly a weak point, but geb takes a pass rather than push the issue further in his favor. his answer, of course, is exceptable but predictable. it is a typical democratic platform answer as most of his other answers in this interview.
anyway, check out the interview over at wapo. they will be interviewing all the dems this week.
