We found lots of interesting stuff (including a persistent, ongoing inability for the Presidential staff to spell correctly) from the most recent list of donors to the inaugural. There's some surprises in here for me, not sure about you, but it's definitely more good info to use when trying to avoid buying from Republican-oriented companies.
Altria
Ameriquest (cute they used several subsidiaries to make it look smaller)
Chevron
Dell (!)
ExxonMobil
GMAC (i.e., General Motors and Ditech)
Qualcomm (Eudora.)
Enterprise Rent-A-Car (99.55% sure on this one - there's a lot of covering going on but too many coincidences in play for this to likely be wrong - PLEASE LET ME KNOW if not!)
Pilot Travel Centers
JM Family (largest Toyota distributor in Southeast, Lexus dealer)
Reynolds Plantation
Plus I spent a lot of catch up time this weekend so there are 710 corporations and 5249 brands/chains/names researched at this point. As always if I am missing anything, please let me know.
Interesting facts: there are some PACs Open Secrets does not track apparently...and AFAIK we're 100% accurate as far as parent companies and executive contributions go. We're pulling directly from the FEC for all 2004 numbers at this point and updating PAC numbers weekly, individual contributions trying for weekly (it's 2.3 million plus, with 200,000 new contributions in last week's update!)
We need all the support, info, and guidance we can get. The database is getting huge and organizing this is becoming quite challenging despite a complete re-work. New Years' site coming online in next 24 hours or so :-)
