Wake up Kos! Karl Rove is in charge of Reconstruction and you're bitching about Garrison Keillor?

Thu Sep 15, 2005 at 08:08:00 PM PDT

The word is out and it is not pretty.  Karl Rove the grand master of political massage and payoffs is going to be in charge of something that is projected to cost more than the Iraqi War!

The early contracts have been let to Halliburton and other political cronies of Bushco.  And what has our preznit done for the little guys?

Rep. John D. Dingell (D-MI) said in his statement out this evening. "With a stroke of the pen, in one of his first Katrina directives, the President cut the wages of the workers who will undertake our largest reconstruction project since the Civil War."

THIS is what you should be screaming about.  These asshats are going to be lining their pockets ten time over what they've given themselves already.  And it's on the backs of the misery of our own citizens.

Kos, get back on the right side of the soap box and start taking these fuckers on.

  •  Oh my God. (none / 0)

If this is true, I think my head will explode, and right before bed.  Don't you need a head to sleep?

How can this be possible?  In the wake of criticism of his appointments and the quality of them, Bush has the gall to do this?  Especially when just a short time ago there was a push for Rove to resign because of the possibility of a felony charge against him.  Once again, Bush does not have a clue into what is going on in the country.

We need to get him and teach him a lesson.  This cannot stand.  In fact, I hope I am already asleep and this is just a nightmare.

Is this really what is being done, or is this just some sortof bogus humor that I am over reacting to?

    •  not a bad *dream*, if this quote (none / 0)

from the NY Times is correct:

Republicans said Karl Rove, the White House deputy chief of staff and Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, was in charge of the reconstruction effort, which reaches across many agencies of government and includes the direct involvement of Alphonso R. Jackson, secretary of housing and urban development.

The audacity here is BREATHTAKING.  What the heck have the REPUBLICANS  been saying about a person under investigation for treason and/or perjury being in charge of a $200+ BILLION project?

Another interesting money (no pun intended) quote from the article about the lack of specifics on costs and such in the speech:

White House officials also played down the notion that Mr. Bush would offer a "Marshall Plan" for New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, as the Senate Republican leadership called for in a letter to the president on Wednesday...
Instead, administration officials and a Republican close to the White House said Mr. Bush would offer some general principles about "building a better New Orleans" with stricter construction standards to try to avoid a replay of the recent catastrophe. Republicans said Mr. Bush would not mention a price tag, in large part because of budget and political pressures from House Republicans and other supporters angry about administration spending. (emphasis mine)

Article 6: "...no religious test shall *ever* be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the U.S."

  •  I admit I am surprised about the lack (none / 0)

of big stuff being featured on the front page in the last couple of days, but I figure Markos is pretty busy with the book.

    Ban the messanger!  Just kidding...

The big con: Democrats vs Republicans

    The illusion of democracy

    Snip:

John Stanton, a writer specializing in national security, says 'the powerful of the country run a minimum security, open air labor camp called the United States of America in which the wardens are the Republicans and Democrats located in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the US government, along with their governments-in-waiting at think tanks around the country'. Add to this that members of both parties, including representatives from the media and the whole spectrum of industry, belong to the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission or Bilderberg (as do Bill Clinton and Bush, Sr.), etc.; groups that are dedicated to the ultimate destruction of American sovereignty.

    Snip:

The ugly truth is that both parties serve the same masters and they aren't the American people or even the best interests of America--at least not since the Federal Reserve, Inc (a private entity owned by bankers) was created by the Rockefellers for the Rockefellers and their International Banker friends in the City of London. Having had our money system (and wealth) hijacked for almost 100 years (following the Federal Reserve Act of 1913) has allowed the Ruling Class to create and manipulate debt, interest rates, recessions, and depressions and involve Americans in wars for their economic profits and our human losses, and to continue to do so in Iraq and the soon coming wars with Iran, Syria, Russia and probably China.

This pretending the demo's or rethugs have out best interest at heart is killing us.
