In a stunning turn of events, a Southern TV station refuses to run a TV show the rest of the nation wasn't going to watch anyway but now will watch to see what the ruckus is about:
N.C. Station Refuses to Air 'Daddy'
NEW YORK - After protests from adoption advocates, a Fox affiliate in North Carolina chose not to air Monday's "Who's Your Daddy?" special, where an adoptive daughter tried to guess the identity of her birth father for a $100,000 prize.
My god, there's so much to snark here, I don't know where to begin...ah screwit, I'll begin in the same place I usually do...after the Freedom Fold. (TM)
So far, WRAZ-TV in Raleigh-Durham is the only one of 182 Fox station to respond to a plea from the National Council for Adoption that they not air the reality special, which the council said "would exploit the sensitive emotions of adoption."
The special features a woman and her birth father, who were both involved in simultaneous searches for one another. He was one of eight potential dads presented to her, and the woman won the money if she pinpointed him. If she was wrong, the impostor whom she chose would win a prize.
Producers said the pretaped special was a "positive experience" for both the woman and her father, and urged viewers not to prejudge it.
"The special was thoroughly vetted by our standards and practices department to ensure that it was appropriate for broadcast," said Scott Grogin, Fox spokesman. "However, any network affiliate that feels the programming may be inappropriate for their individual market has the right to preempt the schedule.

Oh, I'll just rattle some stuff off, you guys discuss it:
- The theme of searching for a father is a common theme in movies, once the studios realized half of american men grew up without a father figure (eg. "Fight Club" families.) In other words, stupid movie endings like The Shawshank Redemption or the now-cliched inserted father figure or artifical father figure relationship (Spiderman 1 and Spiderman 2, respectively) make men teary-eyed. In other words, this shit makes money.
- That a Southern station refused to air this is not surprising in and of itself. They would refuse to air anything produced outside of the 700 club or the Jesus Diaries (or whatever they're showing on those channels between Sportscenter and USA that i never watch) if they could. However, in a weird perversion, aren't they trying to glorify adoption as an alternative to abortion? Why aren't they supporting this show? I'm sure Fox made this show with this in mind. Are they THAT FRICKING STUPID? Or, maybe their mothers smoked too many cigarettes while they were pregnant. Who knows.
- Why is FOX even shown in the south? On one hand, all the shows can have a convoluted reason for being cancelled in the south:
- The Simpsons: Godless drunk Homer tries a new scheme every week to avoid going to church and watch football instead, while good Christian Flanders is ridiculed in every show.
- American Idol: American-Hating Simon ridicules Country Music and revels in godless hip-hop, Barry "Screwthesouth" Manillow, and Rock and/or Roll.
- Malcolm in the Middle: Canadian (therefore automatically America-Hating) wrestler, Bret Hart, is in the opening of every show with another famous America-hater, Godzilla. Or is it mecha-Godzilla...I always get the two confused.
- Hannity and Colmes: Colmes is a god-hating, aborted fetus of a newsman that contaminates Goodman Hannity with his vile bile.
- O'Reilly Factor: Now God-hating, perverted, etc. Last year's ratings? All a lefty conspiracy. "REAL" southerners don't watch him anymore.
So, in summary: Fox gets censored in the South for a reason so hypocritical that it boggles the mind, yet other shows they produced are shown freely. Also, anyone NOT in the south would lose their jobs over being THIS FUCKING STUPID. OH NO, BUT NOT YOU SOUTHERNERS. TO YOU, THIS IS FRICKIN' "PATRIOTISM" AND "MORAL VALUES."
