TALKING POINT: Irony of GOP "drown the govt" goals

Fri Sep 02, 2005 at 08:29:17 AM PDT

Wasn't Grover Norquist famous for saying conservatives wanted government to be so small it could be drowned in a bathtub?

Here's our new talking point:

Conservatives desire to make government so small it can be drowned in a bathtub has not drowned the government.  No, their ideological fanaticism, budget cuts, contrived war, tax cuts, and self-serving short-sightedness has merely served to drown the wonderful city of New Orleans and with it thousands of good Americans.

Okay, now go write LTE's.

  •  I had an e-mail read on the Diane Rehm show (none / 0)

this morning with this very meme.  I even used the phrase (attributed to Norquist) about drowning the goevernment.  It was the Friday news round up and Tony Blankly of the WaTimes called it a cheap shot while E.J. Dionne called it a legitimate question.  Im pretty proud because the Diane Rehm show on WAMU is fairly influential in the DC area.  So Im doing my best with this.

Be careful around Bill O cuz he'll pop a loofah in yo ass.
