  •  Well, well, the GOP is finally getting (none / 0)

what they broadcast for years but never did.

    Less big government.

If the national debt clock is anywhere near correct, the debt as of 22 Sep 2005 at 08:38:09 PM GMT is $7,929,204,703,673.60 - - -

    http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

The singular biggest problem that a country faces when it wants to spend all your money for you, when it wants to dictate your life style, when it wants to do all your thinking, etc. is the discovery it doesn't have a clue as to what to do.

Thomas Jefferson was quoted as saying,"I place economy among the first and most important of republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared."

Well, the government has spent all the money it can plus the almost $8 trillion shown above and now it has to cut something, anything,-- - but tax cuts for the wealthy few.

Reality is best served in small portions and only to others.

    •  Don't believe the hype (none / 0)

They aren't interested in cutting big government.  They're interested in cutting the parts of the government that they don't like.  Is there a call to cut our losses in Iraq?  Are there any significant defense spending cuts?  Are they cutting the abstinence education grants?  No.  Nowhere to be seen.
  •  Big Nothing on Defense (none / 0)

Does anyone else notice that there is practically nothing from the DOD budget?  We're spending $400 billion a year on defense, not including the war in Iraq.  Can anyone else understand this?  Do we really need every new weapons system that comes down the pike?  Do we really need so many servicemen?  Well, not if we weren't in Iraq, I guess.  Why isn't anyone talking about this?  We don't need 1 million soldiers to fight Al-Qaeda.  We need fewer soldiers and a President with some sense of what to do with them.
  •  Just sent this to AARP! n/t (none / 0)

Will the elite be happy living behind gated communities in the potential meltdown? Peace now. -7.00, -2.92
