Yahoo news is reporting that troops are being sent into New Orleans to stop looting:
NEW ORLEANS - National Guardsmen in armored vehicles poured into New Orleans on Thursday to curb the growing lawlessness as Mississippi's governor vowed to deal with looters in the neighboring state as "ruthlessly as we can get our hands on them."
Okay, why is this only happening now, on the fourth day of the crisis?
And why aren't
event more troops being deployed to organize food and water distribution for the city?
What the Hell is going on down there?
Last seen, the head of FEMA was assuring everyone that the agency was "completely prepared" to assist in any way that it can.
This is what you say the day before the emergency event. Not four days after.
Where are the massive airlifts of supplies? Where is the major troop presence on the streets arranging distribution? Where is the flotilla of waterborne transport vehicles bringing people to dry land?
I keep hearing reports of "three or four more helicopters being deployed from neighboring states." There are thousands of helicopters in the U.S. and probably many hundreds in the region around New Orleans.
Is there really, really nothing that can be done for these people?
I am just so shocked ...
Oh, FUCK the looting. Jesus Christ. Who cares if someone runs off with a TV at this point.
WHO THE FUCK ordered troops into New Orleans to stop the looting, but ordered no troops to distribute food and water and to calm and organize the anxious population?
This is just ridiculous. Is this all happening at the FEMA level? At Gov. Blanco's office? At Mayor Nagin's office? Because wherever these decision are being made, heads must roll when all of this is over.
Calling in troops to stop the looting ...
Ludicrous.
Just shocked.
