I think we need something truly light-hearted to give us a break from politicking, bemoaning the state of the country, and figuring out what to do about it. What we're doing here, on dKos, is necessary, but we all need refueling once in a while.
With that end in mind, I'd like to share my favorite (clean) joke, and ask you to do the same. Of course, it's below the fold.
An optimist invites his pessimistic friend to go out duck hunting, telling his friend, "Wait until you see my dog in action. Once you've seen him, you won't be a pessimist any more!"
Out they go. It's a lovely day for duck hunting; in other words, it's truly fowl weather. The pessimist shoots a drake, and the optimist sends his dog, a big black retriever, out after the ducks. The pessimist wipes the rain from his glasses and watches the dog run across the top of the pond, smartly fetch the duck, and bound back, again across the top of the deep pond, with the duck in his mouth. The dog delivers to hand and goes to sit down at his owner's side.
"What do you think of that, huh?" asks the optimist. The pessimist makes a non-committal noise.
The same scenario repeats a couple of times, until each of them has a duck for dinner and another for the freezer. Each time, the dog bounds merrily across the top of the pond, rather than swimming, retrieves the duck, and races back.
On the way home, the optimist again asks his pessimistic friend, "Well, what do you think? Pretty good, huh?"
The pessimist looks at the optimist and says, gloomily, "That dog can't swim, can he?"
