They made do with no communications, setting up command stations and relying on word of mouth.
When they say lights flash from gunfire, officers converged on the area and frisked people for weapons.
Many of these officers lost everything they had, didn't know where their families were, and stayed on the job.
They had no food, water, ammunition, were outnumbered and out gunned yet stayed on the job.
They worked 21 hour days saving lives, walked in their own and others feces and urine, lost everything, had no communications, no supplies, were outnumbered, and then were shot at by snipers when they went in to do a rescue.
Whew, you thought you had a bad day!
So certainly the blame game would end all the talk about what the locals didn't do.
Uh, no.
The video of a couple of officers pushing a shopping cart through a grocery store apparently carries the day. I say, FUCK THAT. This guy held together a number of squads in inhumane conditions. They have made sacrifices we can only have nightmares about. If anyone has the right to a little righteous indignation, it's Eddie Compass in defending his department.
