The first non-lying, yes truthful, Republican politician, U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall, has stepped forward, but beware, he smells of Winger with a capital W:
"The War on Terror involves keeping the bad guy from having his foot on half the oil reserves in that most populated area," Hall said. "For that reason I think you could glean that this is a war for energy."
War for energy. Ok. I'll buy that. Sounds reasonable.... except that your silly prez, Heil W!, ranged from WMD to "spreading freedom" as the reason...
I think you are right Rep. Hall. That makes Bush and Cheney liars however.
Hall's next statement is so laughable that it makes me gag that this is one of the people running this country:
""I don't have much regard for any of that bunch on the desert over there," Hall said of oil-rich Middle Eastern countries to a recent Farm Bureau audience. "I don't trust them and they don't trust us."
"I would like to do without them, and we can do without them," Hall said of the opportunities ANWR and off shore drilling would provide.
During a later speech at a Lamar Energy Center gathering at Love Civic Center, Hall talked about energy and war.
"One of the major duties of a member of Congress is to prevent a war and you do that by removing the causes," he said. "The lack of energy is one of the major causes."
Huh? Ahhh...duh? Did he just say that? Yep. He did. And you thought W was the only bonifide moron:
Hall just said that ANWR would allow us to do without Saudi oil. Can you say W.I.N.G.E.R?
(FYI, ANWR oil at its peak would be a blink in oil market terms... roughly, if it could all be pumped at once, it would provide a 6 month supply if I recall correctly. And this goof says ANWR would allow us to "do without them." Ha!)
