Feel like barfing at the video of Santorum (standing next to McCain) trying to pose as Mr. Reform? Help us Pennsylvanians think up the best comparison. "Fox guarding the henhouse" ain't bad but I think we can do better. I will snail-mail the winner two of our Harrisburg-area Stonewall Dem "Stop Santorum" stickers that you can't get anywhere else :-) I'll narrow it to five contenders one week from today and then we'll have a poll to pick the winner.
More on the flip!
Here are a few to get you going: putting Rick Santorum in charge of lobby reform is like putting Heidi Fleiss in charge of the vice squad... Putting Courtney Love in charge of a "Just Say No" campaign ... Putting Exxon (or some other polluter) in charge of cleaning up Prince William Sound.. or
It's like putting Rick Santorum in charge of Social Security!
Putting Rick Santorum in charge of tort reform (ya know, his wife's lawsuit against her chiropractor)...
"To have someone who is as responsible as anyone in the world for the K Street Project, Mr. Santorum, stand in this Capitol and say that he and his pal Tom DeLay and others are going to reform Congress is like saying we're going to put Brownie back in charge of FEMA.'" -- Sen. Harry Reid (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 1-19-06)

Here are some resources for you: Kos's recent diary on "K Street"? What's "K street"? (November Santorum vs. Current Santorum)
DSCC has an excellent roundup of Santorum's lobbying sleaze, including the Senate Ethics Committee's bipartisan slap at him in 2002, the fact that Santorum has received more money from lobbyists than any other 2006 incumbent, and his 1995 vote against a lobbyist gift ban (another case of Rick vs. Rick).
The Washington Monthly ran a good overview of Santorum's K Street Project in 2003.
