It seems that although this administration was caught red-handed harming the freedoms that they are so inspired to protect, they believe that Congress should just let them use a fictional "get out of jail free card."
Check it out here.
According to sources, the White House is prepared to formally ask Congress to change the law that he violated so that it can be "buisness as usual."
"It's amazing when people to say to me, 'Well, he was just breaking the law,'" Bush said, emphasizing repeated briefings to selected members of Congress. "If I wanted to break the law, why was I briefing Congress?"
Well, why would you? Come on, its not as though Bush cares about listening to Congress. Bush seems to assume too much and can't seem to understand that he and his don't have all the answers.
In fact, the article goes on to suggest that they could also ask Congress for legal cover for the program. Hmmm, if they were not too worried about it then, why all of a sudden do they need "legal cover" if they were within the law? Maybe this has something to do with it?
