Gen. Wesley Clark will be in Corpus Christi, TX on Thursday January 26 to kick off the campaign for
Lt. Cdr. Juan Garica. Garcia is running for House District 32 in the Texas Legislature.
Normally, this type of news is reserved for the Page 4 Metro but this story is much more interesting. There has been much said on the Fighting Dems running for Congress but not much on Fighting Dems running for state legislatures.
Juan Garcia graduated top of his class at UCLA, went to Harvard Law School, the JFK School of Government and then became a White House Fellow in the Clinton White House. He joined the Navy to become a fighter pilot and has combat missions over Iraq and Kosovo (where he met Clark). Believe it or not, Garcia is even more impressive in person.
I have gotten to meet and know Juan quite well and he has an amazing future ahead of him. This is what the Democratic farm team should look like. He is young, smart with some great experience. He is running in a Republican swing district against a man who imitated an
erection on the floor Texas House of Representatives. I am not joking. There is even a commercial made by Practice What Your Preach.
My blog, The Red State: Living Liberal and Progressive in a Red State, will be live-blogging the rally with Juan Garcia and Wes Clark on Thursday.
