Like many others here, I have C-SPAN on in the background while trying to get some work done. And for the last several minutes, I've watched Debbie Stabenow argue against Alito in the right way--by using Alito's own words, his own decisions, case by case by case, and it's stunning. If you listen to this you just shake your head and say how can this guy even be considered for the Supreme Court.
This is the way it is done. Hopefully somebody will get it up and link to it. It's the most powerful argument I've heard yet, just because its a pretty much dispassionate revealing of Alito's own actions.
And it's an ugly, ugly record. Just a few more hours. Let's keep up the fight! UPDATED WITH A BIT MORE
This is what has really struck me in this debate--the Democrats talk about his actual record, while the Republicans talk about what other people say about him personally. Mitch McConnell has just spent about 15 minutes without mentioning any specific actual case on the record, just talking about how the ABA and several Democrats that have worked with him are big fans of him. He mentions "...his brilliant record..." but doesn't actually share any of it with us.
Why are the Republicans so scared to talk about Alito's actual record?
