After reading this, I was blown away (no pun intended.) After all of the innocent blood shed in Iraq that is still being shed... After all of the innocent blood shed on 9.11... In Afghanistan... and the massive FAILURE of this administration to capture Osama Bin Laden and truly keep this country safe even with their illegal and unconstitutional tactics, people polled STILL believe we should attack Iran with military force. Well, this I believe then WILL BE the crux of the State of Disunion Address tonight (which I am NOT watching, BTW,) and once again we are heading for war... Only this time, it won't be like Iraq was... It will be far worse.

57% of Americans Want Military Action In Iran
And according to this article, Democrats as well as Republicans are for military action in Iran because they are "afraid" of what Iran can do if they make a nuclear bomb... All the while living in a country that has the most nuclear weapons of any country on the face of this Earth. If that doesn't show clearly how effective the propagangda is, I don't know what does.
It is also the one topic Republicans have firm control of... FEAR. And they need to have firm control over this topic, because they have nothing else. They don't have a healthcare plan that does anything but make insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and HMOs richer at the expense of the elderly, the middle class, and the poor. They don't have an effective energy plan that does anything but give 11 billion dollar profits to EXXON. They don't have any plans that truly give opportunity to those who need it. Their policies take that opportunity away. Their education program is a failure. Their entire domestic agenda is a FARCE. So what do they have to do in order to get people to follow them? Scare the hell out of them... And sadly, it appears to be working even after all the BS they have pulled, as this poll reveals. So I have got to say that if this poll is truly an indication of the opinions of American people about this, we really are headed for a nuclear war, and people have absolutely NO IDEA what they are asking for.
However, this poll also doesn't reveal the fact that Bush and his warmongers have done nothing but sabre rattle and call nations an "axis of evil" and tell them to "bring it on" since his first address. That has been a very big part of nations in that region seeking out ways to have the same weapons we have. And I believe it is exactly what they want. An arms race makes their defense companies richer and keeps them in power by subjugating people to fear, the only real weapon they have.
Yesterday was the birthday of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a man who faced fear right in its face and defeated it. He said, " The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." And it is the Bush regime that has done more to propagate that fear in the last six years than any other administration in my memory. They know it is a winner. They know people will fall victim to it, because it is only human nature to fear something you feel you have no control over, and something you are told is out to change your way of life.
Is that fear however, worth giving up your home? Your livelihood? Your freedoms? Your civil liberties? Your children? Your Earth? It absolutely amazes and outrages me that Americans could once again be falling into this trap of perpetual war set by Bush and his PNAC partners. Is it possible Iran could make a bomb? Anything is possible... But also remember that it is even more possible for Iran to obtain the materials necesary to build a bomb the more our policies are beligerant.
This has all not happened by chance. This was all set in motion deliberately by players on all sides seeking war, using us as the pawns. Bush's State of Disunion address tonight no doubt will once again play on the fears of Americans, using the words "9.11", "freedom," and "democracy" as soundbites. He will tell us how tapping our phones, reading our mail, and taking away our ability to defend outselves in a court of law are "all for our safety." It will truly be a pathetic desperate display to regain ground lost by truth being told....and the saddest part of it all, is that a bit more than half of this nation will still believe anything he says.
And this time, should his wishes materialize, it will lead to the domino effect that I personally do dread. I wonder as well, how many of those in Congress including Democrats who gave him permission to attack Iraq would do it again for Iran. Hillary Clinton has already said she is for it. If this poll is any indication then (because we all know politicians don't do anything unless they look at polls first,) it truly does give us something to fear. And it isn't bogeyman on audio and video tapes brought out at just the right moment to give his fearmongering credence. It is the fear that those in our own government who swore an oath to protect us, are exactly the ones who will sacrifice us for their own agendas.
We are a nation wallowing in fear. Unless we truly learn to rise above it to get to truth, it will be our undoing.
Welcome to 1984.
Oh, and one question to those who may read this and also be for military action in Iran. How do you intend to pay for it?
