Pity the NY GOP, decimated beyond belief. They can't find anyone worthwhile to run at the
top of their tickets.
Billionaire B. Thomas Golisano, ending months of speculation about his political future, said Tuesday he will not make a fourth run for governor of New York, this time as a Republican.

"Today, I am announcing my decision not to seek the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party nominations for governor," the Rochester-based businessman and owner of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team said in a statement issued by his office.
Perhaps Golisano got tired of seeing polls trailing Spitzer by a mile. Just another one was released today:
Sienna College. 1/23-27. MoE 3.9% (11/9-11 results)
Golisano (R) 29 (26)
Spitzer (D) 55 (58)
Weld (R) 17 (16)
Spitzer (D) 60 (64)
Suozzi (R) 20
Spitzer (D) 58
The GOP's inability to field even halfway decent challengers for the top two ballot spots is huge, giving Dems a leg up on a number of competitive down-ballot races (including several House contests). With no top Republicans to deliver the GOP message, run TV ads blasting Dems, and rev up the faithful, we may see serious Democratic gains at all levels in the state.
