I've
posted about Abramoff for some time now and have been researching him since 1999.
Today was a big day in Abramoff news. There is a lot of news and I'm sure that I'm missing some, but I wanted to point out a couple of Big ones.
More on the jump...
Over at the Talking Points Café,
the Daily Muck is loaded--and I mean jam-packed--with many new details. Paul Kiel is one of Josh Marshal's new hires and he is earning his keep. The Daily Muck is a must read.
Perhaps the best link was back to Zack Coleman at Hong Kong's The Standard. These stories out of HK are amazing.
The Stakeholder is another must read when tracking Abramoff news. Today the focus was on bogus GOP Lobbying Reform (AKA: the Freedom to Lobby and Bribe act of 2006).
Over at Raw Story the focus is on Saipan, sweatshops and the money that flowed to the GOP to protect them. CNMI Gov. Ben Fitial is waste deep in the scandal and shocked, shocked that corruption was going on. This guy is talking to the Feds. He is going to crack and crack big (if he hasn't already).
And today's Fresh Air had a GREAT interview with Susan Schimdt and Jeffery Smith
of the Washington Post. This will be a rich transcript to comb through. It is an anti-Howell moment and it lays out many interlocking dimensions of this growing scandal. After all the criticism of the WaPo this is a good opportunity to appreciate the excellent reporting they have done on the Abramoff scandal. Without their work, Jack would still be working K Street and pouring illegal money into the 2006 election cycle. This is really worth a listen.
I'll have more thoughts after I process some of this stuff, but I wanted to get this out there.
Go and enjoy and please add anything I missed.
