The MSM has annointed Harold Ford, Jr. the Democratic candidate for Frist's seat in 2006.
THERE IS ANOTHER DEMOCRAT IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION: ROSALIND KURITA -- and she's not getting the recognition she deserves.
In a press release from the Kurita camp yesterday, and
posted at her website, it was announced that:
Today, the American Nurses Association announced it is backing state Senator Rosalind Kurita in the race for Tennessee's open U.S. Senate seat.
The ANA said:
"Rosalind Kurita will be the only nurse in the U.S. Senate when she wins in November. We're proud to support her campaign. Her frontline nursing experience combined with her health policy expertise will immediately make her a leader in the Senate on healthcare issues. Tennesseans will surely be well-served with Rosalind Kurita as their U.S. Senator."
The MSM is largely ignoring Kurita. If we have learned nothing else from the repugs it should be this: if you say something often enough, even if it is not true, many people will start to believe it. By ignoring her, the MSM is telling Tennesseans (and potential national contributors to her campaign) that she will not get the nomination. I would prefer that this be a real horse race -- especially in light of the something I read at a Tennessee political Yahoo! group.
After the SOTU address, there were several postings to the group, commenting on Ford's display of affection for Dubya. One Tennessean posting to the group had this to say:
I was watching C-SPAN after the SOTU, and they were taking phone calls while watching the people exit the building and shake hands with Bush. I almost choked on my drink when I saw Harold Ford Jr fawning over Bush like a teenager meeting there favorite rockstar. He was absolutely giddy while shaking hands and patting Bush on the back. I wonder if we actually have a country left to take back. I tell you it was disgusting, seeing him gushing that way.
This does nothing to assure me that he is right for TN -- quite the contrary.
Rosalind Kurita is the underdog (always have had a soft spot in my heart for the underdog!) -- and is largely being ignored by the national media. A recent Rasmussen poll doesn't even bother to consider her. Shame on the lot of them.
I think it is important to get out the word that there is a real Dem option in Rosalind Kurita. Beat those drums, oh Kossacks -- make it a fair fight!
Stay strong!
