What a beautiful day here in San Francisco - warm weather, clear sunny skies and its mid-Febuary. So what am I doing inside posting a diary? Good question - I stopped home for a quick lunchtime pitstop and channle surfed over a sammich. Now, normally I zoom right past "Court TV" which I find to be rather...lame.
I was a bit surprised to find a show on called "ACLU Freedom Files." This particular episode was about freedom of religion and they profiled various people who had found themselves on the wrong side of government interference with the practice of religion. The fantastic thing about the episode was the numerous profiles of individuals and families who were religious and found themselves being helped by the ACLU. For example an evangelical teenager who had a religious quote removed from her yearbook profile went to 20 different "Christian" law firms and none would help her, but, to her parent's shock, the ACLU did.
I think this is not a recent program, but it seemed to me a nice example of how to cross bridges in furtherance of our progressive values, as opposed to burning them.
