Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

There's the rule about posting on a subject already covered and the rule about having at least 3 substantive paragraphs to write on a given subject.

          •  Is this more "productive" (eye roll) (4.00)
            A few excerpts:

Diaries should be substantive. A good guideline is that if you don't have at least three solid paragraphs to write about your subject, you should probably post a comment in an open thread, or in a recent diary or front-page post that covers a topic relevant to what you wish to write about.

Duplicative diaries are prohibited. Please scan the recent diaries and front-page posts before starting to compose your own diary. This rule operates on a sliding scale. A repeat diary with minimal analysis or originality (particularly on "breaking news" items) is prohibited.

If you receive a reasonable request from a fellow Kossack to delete your diary (i.e., your diary is duplicative as per above), please do so.

Diaries which engage in wild speculation without any proof are strongly discouraged.

    •  Would it kill you to a go a day Barb (4.00)
and not act like the diary police? Lighten up people.
      •  Have you ever considered... (4.00)
...that when you call someone the diary police, you're being the comment police?

I have called out two people in two days (and others before that)...this one and one yesterday.  Yesterday's was the 817th "The WTC was brought down by explosives" diary.  And actually I made a joke about black helicopters outside my window.  I'll stand by my posts there.  And I'll stand by the ones here.  Both violate the rules and both knock other diaries down the list, which isn't fair to people who actually research and write diaries, rather than three or four lines of speculation or cutting and pasting (again) an unproven conspiracy story.

        •  Seriously Barb.... (none)
your sense of conversational etiquette is poor.

In the WTC thead you mention, I asked you why you inserted yourself into a discussion I was having with someone else, a discussion which was about a difference I had with that other person.

          You responded by saying, esentially:

"I can do whatever the hell I want!"

You are certainly aggressive and abrasive. You seem to have some type of authority complex which makes you feel you have some kind of entitlement to try to bully other people into submission to you.

This is a Democratic board with lots of different topics and points of view. If you see something you don't like you don't have to jump on the poster and slam their head into the floor.

          •  Sorry you're so sensitive... (4.00)
Sheesh.  To say I was being "agressive, abrasive and bullying" or that I "slammed" your head is such an overreaction on your part that it borders on (using your earlier word) weird. In fact, if you reread your comment here, you might notice that you are being agressive, abrasive and bullying...and btw, inserting yourself into a discussion I was having with someone else. Or is it only okay when you (and everyone else on Daily Kos - the "inserting," that is) does it?  As I said, the comment sections are open to everybody.

Sometimes with all the researched facts staring us in the face and someone comes up with a lite diary, that relieves tension, it is cool!  Peace!  I hate reading a researched diary and have a freeper come in and ruin it with assinine comments. I, also don't think it is nice for someone to interrupt a lite diary as police either!  Both, interrupt the diaries!

it wasn't to let the alcohol level in his blood decrease to legal levels. It also wasn't so that Rove could cook up a story or that Richard Mellon Scaife could buy off all the eyewitnesses. It was that no one could have anticipated such an event. I wonder if Justice Scalia was on the trip?
