If Cheney was using a resident licenst rather than a non-resident, he's illegally claiming residency in two states and is in violation of the constitutional requirements regarding the states a president and vice-presedent come from.

Some reporter somewhere needs to find out what type of license he used. It's public information and cannot be hidden. My suspicion is, he either hunted with no license or hunted with a resident license.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Says he got license in Nov. (none)
Cheney was legally hunting with a license he purchased in November, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesman Steve Lightfoot said. The vice president flew back to Washington on Sunday evening, according to his office.

    •  Freudian slip... (none)
      From the linked article:

`"He was sprayed, peppered with pellets on the right side of his face down to the shoulder and down here." She said the president stayed by Whittington's side who was bleeding.

      Just thought that was funny...

  •  Why don't you call and find out? (none)
You seem to know something about the licensing process and that would put you ahead of most of the lame reporters in this country.
  •  The Constitutional Requirement (none)
is not what you appear to be thinking.

The requirement is that an elector, in voting for P and VP, must vote for at least one candidate from a state other than the elector's own.

The candidates may both be from the same state.

For example, two Democrats could be from Utah, or two Republicans could be from Rhode Island.

    •  Utah (4.00)
But there aren't two Democrats in Utah.
    •  Ah, but there is a point here (none)
I don't know if the poster was driving at this, but there is a point to the type of licence he was using, because he's right, if it's a resident licence, that makes Cheney a Texas resident, and they can't have won Texas which would make Kerry the President.  Article II, Section 1, Subsection 3.
The electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same State with themselves.

So if Cheney is a Texas resident then they can't have won Texas.  That brings the electoral college to an interesting reversal of 286-252 in favor of Kerry-Edwards.  But the question arises then whether Cheney can be a Texas resident now if he wasn't at the time of the election.  I can see the argument being made that he is in fact a Texas resident, but wasn't a Texas resident when the electors voted which would uphold the Texas vote and the discussion becomes pointless.

    •  That's right (none)
Which means, if he's a resident of Texas, Bush and Cheney could not have received the Texas electoral votes.

Which means they did not win either election.

  •  Apologies to Scalia (4.00)
I do not begrudge the Justice hunting trips with Cheney anymore.
  •  Cheney has the inherent power to hunt.... (none)
