Milwaukee's right-wing squawker Charlie Sykes dedicated a segment this morning to praise Jim Sensenbrenner for his vote against Katrina victims. According to Sykes, Jim Sensenbrenner was attacked by the media and the Democratic Party for standing up against government waste, and now we can see that he was right, there was waste all over the place. He did, however, fail to mention a few things...
- Jim Sensenbrenner voted to spend a ton of money in Iraq, and we haven't heard him call for an investigation into all of the missing money that went there.
- He voted to give money to tsunami victims without hesitating over how the money was spent... does he trust foreign governments more than our own?
- He offered no alternatives! If he really wanted to demand accountability, shouldn't he have drafted new legislation to deal with it, or shouldn't he have at least have tried to fix the system so it doesn't happen again?
Quite frankly, I'm glad to see that the right wing media is getting so worked up about this. Perhaps they are starting to realize that their right-wing placeholder in Congress is going to have a competitive race for a change!
So now the real question... do we owe Sensenbrenner an apology? My $25 says no. Let's vote with our pocketbooks (and if you want to, tell us about your vote in the comments!)
Yes, we owe Jim Sensenbrenner an apology - www.sensenbrenner.org
No, Jim Sensenbrenner is out of touch and voted against our fellow Americans the day that he voted against aiding Katrina victims - www.bk2006.org
