At half-time of the nationally televised sixers-bulls game on TNT tonite, Charles Barkley provided some political commentary and blasted bush/cheney on katrina and cheney's shoot 'em up hunting trip. Following is the transcript (I typed from TIVO)
I'm a total sports fanatic, and i've never seen such a blatant political attack during a sports event. Way to go Charles!!
Transcript below the fold:
Barkley: You know what's really amazing you know I watch this show a lot -- Anderson Cooper -- he did a fantastic job the other night talking about how our government is wasting over $300 million on all ofthose trailers locked up in Arkansas, they're not even using. They're deteriorating. I want to give a shout out to Anderson cooper - fantastic job. Our government, if they would quit going quayle hunting they could get some stuff done.
Other ex-player commentator: is this our political moment?
Cross-talk
Barkley: Hey $300 million of our tax-payer money is sitting in Hope, Ark. The trailers are deteriorating, they're supposed to go to the Katrina victims. They're just sitting there, they can't even use them anymore. That's a travesty.
Other ex-jock: Here's another tidbit, you know the people that were displaced, they can't even vote in NO now, unless they live in NO?
Barkley: It's a shame. If they're not out there shooting each other...what the hell are the republicans doing??
More cross talk.
Barkley: He really wanted to shoot dan quayle, that's what I think.
END
OK, now the gang that couldn't shoot straight are even losing their prominent black republicans!!
