Hey there. Do you subscribe to HBO? Good for you! I don't; it's not in my budget. However, if I did subscribe, on Friday Feb. 17th I'd tune my tv to the season premiere of Bill Maher's always excellent discussion and debate roundtable of relevance and irreverence, "Real Time." The 44th president of these United States will be one of his guests, and it's not to be missed.
That's right - Wisconsin's own Senator Russ Feingold - apparently somewhat popular around here at kos.com - will be one of the guests, along with actor Eddie Griffin, reporter Helen Thomas, and Iraq advisor Dan Senor.
Is anyone here intrigued by Russ Feingold's well-articulated views on the Iraq War, election reform, and the so-called Patriot Act, yet uncertain as to whether he's got the crossover appeal necessary to step it up a notch come 2008? WATCH THIS SHOW. LISTEN TO HIM SPEAK. When he's interviewed, when he speaks, Russ Feingold comes across as more crossover appeal than crossover appeal itself. Plus he's naturally got the "aw shucks, I'm from Bumtown WI" thing that most of our elected officials often want to imitate, but rarely achieve. It's also genuine. I've been to his hometown, Janesville WI. They might not even HAVE a Starbucks yet. No "latte liberal" tag for Mr. Feingold, although Esquire (or was it Salon?) actually described him as having "vulpine good looks." Yeah, I had to look it up, too.
It's at 11pm EST. I'm going over to a friend's with some Blatz and a notebook. I hope some of you can watch it, too.
Russ Feingold for president in 2008!
