We liberals mostly dislike Walmart. Sure they give us what we want cheaply and conveniently, but they're surrounded by evil. Their rock-bottom prices drive out the local stores who need to charge the higher prices for survival, and libeals dont' like to see people forced out of their livelyhood by corporate greed.
They also treat their employees like crap. They don't pay a living wage. They don't provide benefits. They come dangerously close to openly discriminatory hiring practices.
This is why I enjoy my drive home from college so much. See why below.
This Walmart has been closed for a long time. Several years. The other side of this sign has another sign advertising the building for lease. That part is new, but this building has remained closed, and empty for at least two years.
I don't know if they relocated into a SuperWalmart somewhere else in the city, but I like to believe that the Minnesotans in Hastings decided that it wasn't worth the effort to shop there and they were forced to fold up shop because it wasn't profitable.
I finally made sure to have my camera out so I could take this picture, and the fact that it was a perfectly clear, crisp winter day made me feel even better when I took it.
Anyone else have an uplifting Walmart story to share?
