Am I the only one to catch Bush's real statement here? He seperates the government from congress.
"And so, look, I can understand why some in Congress have raised questions about whether or not our country will be less secure as a result of this transaction. But they need to know that our government has looked at this issue and looked at it carefully. Again, I repeat, if there was any question as to whether or not this country would be less safe as a result of the transaction, it wouldn't go forward. "
Why does he seperate "our government" from "Congress". This may be one of the most important things this guy has said. LIterally reinforcing that "the government" doesn't include "the congress".
Trend here I probably don't need to point out but the confirmation hearings, NSA stuff, unitary executive theory etc....
So in 2006 we have conservatives using the mantra that government is full of "good, hardworking people" so we should trust them. Because they are good people.
So the cabinet is government all those other elected people in congress, hmmmm if they aren't government then what function do they serve.
I am starting to think that conservatives don't understand english very well. A simple combination of High school english and civics sets it all straight.
EXECUTE - Executive
LEGISLATE - legislative
JUDICAL - judges
That pretty much lays it out. Of course leaves the question that if "consitutional originalism" is possible why even have the third branch?
