Just a couple fun-filled, pumpkin smashing, pillow fight nights with Ann Coulter
--at the Kent County Republicans and also at WMU in Kalamazoo with this darling GOP pundit "entertainer "? We're not laughing.
The Kent County Republicans have reached a new low when they hired Ann Coulter --who normally charges a generous fee --to "entertain" them and draw in others in an effort to stock their election year coffers featuring this infamous maven of propaganda and disinformation.
Continues...(sigh)...
What's funny or entertaining about her
wild distortions and
pronouncements laced with provocation and invectives? She even
calls for violence, "bomb Syria back to the stone age". After 9/11
she wrote of the attackers, "we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." What's civically redemptive about this
kind of divisiveness and
hateful rhetoric?
Feel pity for those policymakers and officeholders who, holding their noises, were obliged to attend only to be humiliated by a crude sardonic personage who makes her fortune by heaping scorn and derision upon the "others"--whom she diminishes and marginalizes with her brand of "truth" fueling a real civil war of cultural values.
What is the point of this event, but an open bar, good `ol boy bachelor party for the bigoted bashful? But this Annie has more than just a gun in her garter, so just where are the women of the Michigan GOP ? Don't they get a say?
Coulter is the Republican "Washington" Rose, taunting and teasing partisan "foes" for power and advantage. Is she only entertainment? Mind you, radical conservatives have lauded her "Conservative Journalist of the Year" and given her the conservative leadership award "for her unfailing dedication to truth, freedom and conservative values and for being an exemplar, in word and deed, of what a true leader is." If you agree with her it's all high-grade factual truth, if you disagree and object, then her supporters demure-it's just fun and entertainment with the "ragheads" or whoever her chooses to target. So which is it?
Maybe these misguided Michiganders are just stupider than she is.
During a time of national angst and statewide distress, with Michigan's economy in the in balance, do Michigan Republicans, need to be "entertained" by Coulter's deliberate misrepresentations and scurrilous trash talk? Shame on you boys. Stop ogling; you've got work to do, assuming of course, like the rest of us, you truly care about our State's future.
For example, the crowd might be larger and the event truly productive if someone like Lou Dobbs were brought in to address the real and substantive federal and corporatively created problems he has found underlying the real, not-at-all entertaining, economic situations our workers and their families are facing.
Lacking courage to face the realties, will President Bush and GOP fiddle while GM and Ford burn, or dance and carouse at cabaret while Michigan's dead and dying cities sink into utter despair and anarchy? Instead of action or a plan, all we see is the GOP holding sleazy, silly slumber parties.
We must certainly also be talking for those of conscience in the Michigan GOP, when we say: Grow up. Rejectthe feigned words of the "Gospel of Ann"; turn off this 2-watt light of deception, caste off hypocrisy, try do something in the legislature and return to the Gospel.
"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind."
