Just another folly of the democrats. There were activist groups around the country last year that made hay over the
.by the Dems at SOTU...
Why arent Dems using this manufactured crisis to let the public and generation x voters in particular know how far Bushco. has gone to lie to the public to give his buddies tax cuts?
I remember Casey using it a little bit around the time that Chuck Schumer cleared the primary field for him last year because of how unpopular the privatization scheme was in Penn.
But really, the Democrats have again and again failed us at being a leadership party. They have been far too tame and I think most of us know that even though we persist in supporting these guys with a couple of DLC exceptions... Really there is no excuse in supporting the "moderation" (or really conservativism) of northeasten or west coast senators and congressmen.
I say this because in other countries, our Demcrat candidates are the of . I.E. far right wing their country
So come on we all know the real deal with our guys
I also say this as I am just coming out of one of my 1st year law school classes (property pt. 2) I am dismayed by the number of my peers who buy the manufactured crisis of social security. As well as the number who really had no clue or didnt care. The discussion of the "ownership society" that ensued... Well I would certainly hate school if there was no debate, but it shocked me how many 20-somethings in NEW YORK FUCKIN STATE... (you know being in the top bush hating 10 ala Survey USA)... think that there is an absolute crisis that has to be alleviated now or else. In reality the most conservative estimate shows the funds will run out in 2042, whereas the CBO predicts by 2052... http://money.cnn.com/...
all that is really needed is minor tinkering with the #s to push back the impending tide of the baby boomers.
WAKE THE FUCK UP DEMS... you are missing the boat on young voters especially. For a time I was a registered Green based upon the Dems being unwilling to stand up and offer real resistance (and alternatives) to the GOoPers. There are many who will still do the same absent a mainstream opposition party.
Others (like those in my class apparently) will vote what they perceive as their own economic self interest and go GOP. Young voter outreach and education is really bloody necessary. The College Dems may wake up and have to change their tactics to confusion and suppression... new slogan... "when students vote Democrats lose!"
On a completely separate note would someone please drop me a line to explain how to use HTML tags to link to sites? My HTML is atrocious...
