Karl Rove and the Bush administration have proved that science fiction is fast becoming reality as they twist our world, bringing 1984 to life.
This neoconservative vision of a dystopic future can be averted and we can begin the long process of undoing the damage done to our people.
We must start a movement to bring people on craigslist, blogs, myspace, family and friends into one central meeting ground. People could connect locally and nationally, find common ground and organize. Not just democrats, either, we need to be inclusive (forgive my bias here) so we can win over our political adversaries with logic, compassion and numbers.
Picture a community with a million people registered on a single site. People can immediately be divided into a forum for all the people in their congressional district. Right there you would already be able to organize locally and really coordinate an election campaign. A user wouldn't only be limited to conversing with their local peers either.
With group associations similiar to Myspace and Wikipedia, all the democrats could join a central forum, all republicans, there could be a pro-choice forum, a 47th precinct bull moose party candidate forum, a 9-11 forum or basically anything the people decided to create.
It just makes sense for everyone on the internet to be able to connect through one place. Market forces and the almighty dollar will surely deliver us with such a system at some point in the future.
Let's not wait for some eventual information utopia, let us build a network and organize this nation ourselves. When our own government turns against us, we need to come together and form our own establishment and figure out how to get real goddamn people into Washington.
Right now this is all talk. Please tell me what you think, I'm trying to find people with resources or ideas, opinions or comments about this idea.
