It's no secret that the right has been priming McCain for the next election. Russert has done everything but fellate him and somehow the rest of the news channels toe the renegade line. He is not a renegade. He is a corrupt Republican through and through that is completely out of touch with the American public. On every issue he has been on the opposite side of most of America. He has flip-flopped on so many issues and has reinvented what McCain-ness is so many times that I'm going to start where W started to tailspin.
update: edited for typos
Shaivo:
He ignored doctors and courts since he knew better.
From ABC
"I think that the motivation of my colleagues is that we want to give this young woman's family a chance to care for her for as long as she lives," McCain said. "I don't think it's any more complicated than that."
...
"I hope we're not ... making this human tragedy a political issue," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. "We've got plenty of other issues that are political in nature for us to fight about."
Well he did politicize it. It's like when someone says "I don't want to sound racist but..." You didn't want to politicize it but...you have no back bone and dragged this poor family through the mud because you thought that would give you some political capital. Disgusting.
The CBS poll showed that 82% of Americans didn't think the Federal Government should have intervened. Will the ADD media remember this? He came out strongly on this issue despite what America wanted because he knows best. Trust Grandpa McCain. The of course the autopsy showed that his stance was completely wrong
Social Security:
From the Cato Institute - "I think you take 62 percent of the surplus, put it into Social Security, make it solvent, keep it off budget ... and allow people to invest part of their taxes earmarked for Social Security to investment, in investments of their choice. I am convinced that that will make the Social Security system solvent."
Even when most of America was against that plan.
A USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll conducted Friday-Sunday found that 35% approved of Bush's Social Security record, 56% disapproved and 9% had no opinion. That was down from three weeks ago, when 43% approved.
Looks like you were wrong on another one Grandpa. Maybe if he spent an extended time away from the presidents crotch he would understand America. When the public wants something he ignores us but when our dear messianic leader wants something he heals like a good pet and toes the line.
Once again will ADD media remember this?
Iraq:
While he has had a more consistent and reasonable stance on Iraq it was still the wrong stance. It reminds of the question: Which three stooge was the smartest?
"The discovery of mass graves filled with the bodies of murdered children should have convinced even the greatest skeptic. We made America more secure, liberated millions from a reign of terror and helped create the prospect for the establishment of the first Arab democracy. That should make Americans proud -- and critics of the administration's decision to go to war a little more circumspect."
Is that why terror levels have increased every year since we've been in Iraq?
From Broder at WaPo - "In speeches on and off the Senate floor and in countless television interviews, McCain has argued that it was right to remove Saddam Hussein and that the United States and its allies must remain in Iraq until conditions are created for a stable, secure Iraqi government."
Ok, as long as he is on record for supporting this war and the American public knows it. As long as he knows that 71% of Iraqis now consider us occupiers. As long as he knows that 55% of Americans consider the war a mistake
NSA Warantless Wiretapping:
From ABC's "This Week" - "The president, I think, has the right to do this."
Really? Why? I think he mentioned the Patriot Act. Nevertheless he faithfully toed the president's line. Even though the ABA has come out against this. Even when 53% of Americans support impeaching Bush for wiretapping. Wrong side of another issue buddy.
Dubai Port Deal:
Yes, he also supports this. At least he is representing 17% of Americans.
Torture:
One of Grandpa's biggest platforms. He was a POW and knows about this stuff first hand so he came out against it. To bad he didn't have enough clout with the president to let the bill go through without the president issuing another one of his bizarre signing statement. Dropped the ball on that one...
Campaign Finance Reform/Lobbyist Reform:
All talk. Where are these neutered bills? If he was serious about this stuff it would have happened.
Full of Shit
All I'm saying is that McCain is a flip-flopper disguised as a renegade against the establishment. He is billed as a centrist for progressives but tows every wacko line from the administration. He is full of shit and stricken with mild dementia. Don't let anyone tell you that he is any more progressive than the current bozos in the administration.
