Three generations of Bushes & their associates belong to a very elite caste which includes, among others, kings, princes, corporate titans, sheiks, as well as an occasional despot and dictator. Whether we like it or not, they are the world's power brokers, the aristocracy. Their connections and allegiances have been cultivated and developed over generations, they transcend nations, and their membership to this society neither begins nor ends with any particular term of public office.
However, high political office, such as the presidency, does bring with it special benefits. What we have presently is a grand example of the fox guarding the henhouse. Bush's two terms as president are allowing him and his class to pillage resources that once belonged to the American people, and reshape the legal and constitutional environment to favor his aristocratic ilk. From tax cuts to the wealthy that will leave the next generations of Americans heavily indebted, to tax giveaways to oil and pharmaceutical industries at a time when they're enjoying record profits, to encouraging and enabling the war profiteers, to selling off immense tracts of national wilderness, to selling access to our ports to terrorist related foreign governments: it's quite clear whose interests this administration is looking out for, and it's not the American people.
What we've witnessed over the past 5 years is a slow but steady coup of the corporatists over our government of the people, for the people, and by the people. We need to take back our country from these scoundrels, before it's too late.
