MAINTAINING OUR VALUES
By Peter Fredson

The give-away of our Port Maintenance by G.W.Bush has threatened the jobs of many thousands of port workers by giving them to foreigners. We understand this is part of his neocon strategy for world dominance through globalization, in which individuals are pawns in his plutocrat empire.
Our objection is about his denigration of American labor, genius, energy, and industry for purposes of gaining power and wealth.
Once Bush becomes Emperor of the World, then outsourcing will no longer be a problem. There will be NO labor problem, no strikes, and no safety regulations worth spit, no minimum wage, no pensions, no wages and hours nonsense, and no weary legislation to keep Bush from doing whatever it is that he wants to do. There will be no congress, no judicial system.
Yes, there will probably be firing squads or cheaper equivalents (perhaps cyanide capsules), concentration camps or reeducation camps, huge jails with lots of wonderful Bush torture and abuse for recalcitrants, in which the Bush warhawks may have live target practice on whomever they designate as "terrists."
But, you see, this helps Bush solve the ever-pressing population problem. The Bush concern for Life does not encompass murder for corporate profit, for oil, for bases, for power.
Bush tries to cast this present port issue as some sort of racist disapproval of hiring Arabs, or as misguided security concerns. This is deceitful, as is usual with most of the Bush proposals.
It really has to do with outsourcing our country for corporate profit and power, bypassing an already compliant Congress, and arrogating extra-constitutional superpowers to the Bush cronies.
I tried through Googling to get at the beginning of the Port Problem. The quest led me through the colorful history of the teamsters, the dock workers, the stevedores, the longshoremen, the pilots, the tugboat operators, the dock maintenance people and 200 years of putting ports on ocean shores and river sides. But several days of research left me with more questions than answers.
U.S. labor relations were extremely complex, with the colorful contestants of the Kennedy's vs. Jimmy Hoffa, the vigorous and sometimes vicious labor unions, the corruption and grand theft of entire cargos by the Mafia, the good pay and the pay-offs to local bosses, the hundreds of specialized jobs involved in receiving, unloading, and discharging cargo, the eternal quid pro quo to local political machines.
I realized the task of finding definitive answers would be too much for my failing years. I did not find how or who smashed the unions and brought in foreigners as subservient workers. I never found any authorization for George Bush to outsource our resources, our property, our vitality, our honor. Like Topsy, it just kinda happened.
I didn't find the inception of the Bush push to outsource our industry, our mills and factories, our skilled workmen, or how ports like New York came into the hands of the British.
I know that many strings were pulled, many dirty legislative maneuvers succeeded, that huge sums of money transferred hands, that graft and corruption remained the same as before, and that new people became millionaires or billionaires.
I wasn't able to trace any money trail. It must be there but nobody seems interested in tracing where the money went or how the British and American corporate interests had barbecues and cocktail parties or gave New York away as a side-bet on golf.
I would like someone knowledgeable with the Kennedy's, Jimmy Hoffa, Labor unions, port maintenance workers, the Mafia, to tell us how complex the maintenance of our ports was, how many employees were involved, how much money was involved, who pulled the strings, and who got most of the money. How did Bush dispossess us of our ports?
Did the graft, corruption and violence of the Teamsters lead to disenchantment or was it tolerable? Did the graft, corruption, violence and theft of cargo by the Mafia organization become intolerable?
Which of our Presidents decided to smash the unions? Was Bush the first to outsource all of the jobs of port maintenance to foreigners?
When foreign countries and foreign corporations took over port maintenance was it done by bidding for contracts, or, as in Iraq, were the jobs simply given to some corporation like Millennium because a vice president by strange coincidence was also once CEO of Millennium. How much money was first involved to get such a contract, and who has ever traced the money trail? Who got the money?
Was any investigation ever made, up until today, of the bribes or quid pro quos to the Bush neocons by lobbyists, foreign and domestic, to get those very lucrative contracts? Why cannot some US corporation buy up the contracts of the unwilling British owner? Who would actually get the loot? With billions of dollars up for grabs, we know that as sure as God made little green onions he also made greedy big-shots.
One of my points is that if you are going to wave the American flag to cover up flawed legislation, then you might as well go all-out AMERICA FIRST. Stick to our own country, get out of other countries, and stop other countries from taking over our land, our jobs, and our economy.
How much trade deficit do we have and is anything at all being done to bring it down to null zero deficit? Neither national deficit or trade deficit or the immense amounts of interest we must pay to foreign countries seem to worry our carefree smug swaggering President.
How many bases do we have in foreign countries and what is the total sum of money and total troop strength involved in those foreign deals which suit only the purpose of preemptive strikes?
For some people force is the best answer to world problems, and diplomacy must be tied directly to nuclear bullying. Our children will be in debt for generations, with no end in sight if the present trend is allowed by stupidity to continue.
We know absolutely that the neocon goal is world domination by aggressive means. We know that the neocons do not believe in pity, compassion, trust, humane procedures, or diplomacy. We know that the Bush strategy is to go it alone, if others cannot be bullied into sycophant behavior.
We know absolutely that the Bush people, before Bush even became President, were scheming to rule the world and that part of the plan was to invade Iraq, Iran and Syria. The first part of the plan was successful and Bush used lies and misinformation to invade Iraq, tying our nation to failure for many years to come, and billions of dollars down the drain.
All of the immense burden that Bush has put on Americans is due to his neocon conspiracy to dominate the world. He doesn't care about individuals as long as the right individuals assume total power.
He then can take care of individuals on an individual basis by generously giving them 6 feet of sandy or rocky soil to inhabit until some project bull-dozes them up again.
Perhaps Dick Cheney will come up with a Soylent Green solution for humanity as befits his blood-thirsty personality.
Or, as Bush may allege, God will judge and Satan take the hind-most.
Humanity does not matter, if a profit can be made and allow a triumphant smirk to cross the arrogant lips of a petulant, irritable, irresponsible, impatient, carefree, egomaniac.
Morals may be mentioned frequently, as is Bush's alleged heroism before and during 9/11, but in practice they are non-existent and used only to sucker in the gullible ignorant masses that are yearning for final liberation of their weary earthly load, which they firmly believe Bush will grant them.
