Here's a simple, direct armchair action housebound (or office trapped) political activists can take to further the conversation about
impeachment in your precincts, your congressional districts, and your states.
Ask those Democrats running for Congress in 2006 to CLEARLY STATE THEIR POSITION ON IMPEACHMENT.
Write a letter to the editor.
It's one way to get the local ball rolling and it's a way to choose good Democrats for the legislature, or guide them towards goodness (as in the case of Democrats you may find are a bit wobbly on the issue or other issues!).
Note: Here is a link to listings of all the major newspapers available on-line in your state.
As example, here's what I sent out today.
To the Editor:
I applaud Diane Farrell's recently acquired vehemence regarding the illegal invasion of Iraq by the United States.
Better late than never, I say.
I urge Ms. Farrell to keep the heat of her opposition to U.S. policy in Iraq if she beats Chris Shays in the coming election and to pass and fund legislation in Congress that will allow us to withdraw our troops from Iraq and use the funds wasted there on real national security.
In the same vein, I ask Diane Farrell here to publicly endorse the impeachment of George Bush and to use her candidacy to present his impeachment as the necessary remedy to the continuing deconstruction of our system of government by the executive branch under his Republican administration.
Where does Diane Farrell stand regarding the impeachment of George Bush?
The voters should hear her clearly state her position on impeachment before they vote for her to replace Chris Shays.
