To what extent do European and US liberals cooperate? (I mean politicians, citizens and bloggers/diarists.)
A year ago, the liberal US blog Dialog International(one of my favorite blogs) published a great post called A Bridge to "Blue America". The author concluded:
I like the idea of political leaders [from Europe] reaching out to democrats in the US. We know that a sizable percentage of Americans share the same values of mainstream Europeans. By working together now, "blue" Americans and Europeans can work towards an alliance of equals, rather than one dominated by US interests.
Thus I was wondering how strong this bridge from Europe to blue America is these days...
What do you think about the relationship between liberals in the US and in Europe?
Is it strong? Do liberal Americans and Europeans reach out to each other and work on joint policy proposals to improve transatlantic cooperation to solve international problems like poverty, trade, terrorism, WMD proliferation, civil wars, instability, as well as the lack of democracy, human rights and freedom?
Isn't it important that liberal Americans and Europeans plan future cooperation so that they can act swiftly once they are in power again?
Please mention relevant links to Dailykos diaries and external texts.
Or is Europe of no interest to liberal Americans?
I appreciate your opinons on this one.
